Between 14 and 17 November, the fifth national competition in international humanitarian law (IHL) took place in Israel. Six academic institutions participated in the event: The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, the University of Haifa, the College of Management, the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Herzliya, Bar-Ilan University and Sha'arei Mishpat College.

During four days, 11 teams, each comprised of three students, actively participated in the academic event.  Students from The Hebrew University of Jerusalem won the competition this year. The participants will represent Israel at the prestigious Jean-Pictet international humanitarian law competition held in South Africa in 2012.

+ Gaza: Health care in danger

In the Gaza Strip, restrictions on the supply of essential medical supplies remain the greatest concern for thousands of desperate patients, especially those who suffer from kidney failure and cancer. The daily life of around 7000 cancer patients is full of uncertainty. Stocks of essential medical supplies, including chemotherapy and haemophilia drugs are periodically not available.

Indispensable disposables and drugs frequently reach zero stock level and power supply is intermittent and fluctuating. This leads to the interruption of some life-saving treatment processes, which prevents patients from completing a cycle of treatment and forces them sometimes to restart the of treatment protocol from the beginning.
