In light of the current state of affairs caused by the COVID-19 virus, the consequential decrease in business activity in the Israeli economy, and the immediate financial difficulties being experienced by businesses, the Israeli Tax Authority (ITA), has announced a postponement of ten (10) days for the reporting and payment deadlines of VAT, from March 16 to March 26.
The reporting and payment deadlines of March 19 and March 23 have also been postponed to March 26.
The ITA stated that its decision was made in attempt to assist the business sector, and in this regard, the ITA has instructed all of its offices to act with maximum consideration, with the aim of providing individual solutions to businesses that are facing financial difficulties due to the current situation.
Since our office has significant experience in representing taxpayers before the ITA, we recommend that in the case of difficulties or questions being encountered regarding the monthly VAT payment, our office should be contacted in order that we can examine, together with the ITA, the possibility of tax relief being granted.
